SurgeonAir® is a mobile TAF sterile air supply system that creates a clearly defined ISO 5 protection zone exactly where it is needed – directly at the surgical field or the critical working area. It uses a low‑turbulence displacement flow with slightly higher air velocity than conventional systems to keep particles and germs away from the wound or process zone.
SurgeonAir® is designed for flexible infection control wherever you need a defined clean air zone: it can operate as a standalone solution in procedure rooms or practices without OR ceiling systems, creating an ISO 5 protection zone directly over the wound or instrument table, and it can be used in addition to existing OR ceiling airflow systems in complex theatres where C‑arms, lights and equipment disrupt the vertical flow, adding a stable, directed stream of sterile air that shields the surgical field and sterile instruments from airborne bacteria while simultaneously improving overall room air quality.
Four integrated line lasers project the protection zone onto the operating field or work surface so the surgical team can see at a glance which area is kept ultra‑clean. As the distance between discharge head and working area increases, the effective protection zone narrows due to entrainment of surrounding room air, which is why the unit is designed for optimal positioning close to the point of use.
Air guide elements allow a greater distance while maintaining the same effective protection zone, and the system extracts contaminated air at floor level, where the highest particle load from the OR team is typically found. This not only protects the wound, but also dilutes and improves the overall room air quality. A pre‑filter and terminal HEPA H14 filter remove particles down to 0.3 μm, while an integrated laminarizer harmonizes the flow and ensures a stable, low‑turbulence displacement stream.
The system draws floor air through a pre‑filter, presses it through the terminal HEPA H14 filter, and discharges it via a height‑adjustable, swivelling outlet head to achieve the optimal angle towards the wound.
